SPECIAL TEACHER-ONLY EVENTS

Thursday 7:00-9:00 P.M. June 1: The Role of the Supervising Teacher: Town Hall and Collaboration Workshop

With the change of Iowa Homeschool laws in 2013, the legal necessity of having a supervising teacher has been all but eliminated. However, if you look around, you see “new to homeschool” families who are wondering how to homeschool. They need guidance and direction that supervising teachers can offer. In this workshop, we will be discussing what our roles are as supervising teachers, what attributes makes a great supervising teacher and how we can help these new parents in their journey. We will also be hearing about the newest products from a few vendors, so we will have knowledge of the latest products to share with other families. We will also spend some time discussing concerns that supervising teachers have. Hors d’oeuvres will be served. Limited to those registered for AEA Re-Certification credit.

Friday 3:00-4:00 P.M. June 2: Town Hall Meeting for Pre-School and Elementary Supervising Teachers

In this hour, we will be discussing concerns or issues that Pre-School and Elementary supervising teachers encounter and how they can better respond to those issues. This session is open to all Pre-School and Elementary teachers.

Saturday 10:30-11:30 A.M. June 3: Collaboration for Jr. and Sr. High Supervising Teachers

During this session, we will collaborate with Jr. and Sr. High teachers, discussing the concerns they have. This workshop is open to all Jr. and Sr. High teachers.

COURSE MATERIALS

Course materials are necessary for this activity, if one choses to listen to the audios, which they would purchase; or, if they chose to participate in the Essay Intensive, they will pay the additional fee for the workshop. Those choosing to attend Todd Wilson’s keynote on Saturday evening will also pay an additional fee.
